Denmark's Kevin Magnussen, son of ex-Formula One driver Jan, led the way as the World Series' 3-day test began at Spain's Aragón Motorland circuit on Tuesday. With the season having come to a close at the same venue on Sunday, Magnussen led the way from Jean-Éric Vergne and Antonio Felix da Costa, the latter of whom was fastest in the afternoon session.

With Magnussen - in the car of Spanish squad Pons Racing - having made an appearance for only the first part of the day, the Dane's quickest time stood for the rest of the afternoon as conditions deteriorated in Spain.

"The first time you press the accelerator, you say to yourself, 'Okay, this is another world!" he laughed. "Everything is more effective - the braking, acceleration, road holding, grip…you need time to get used to it but I felt comfortable pretty quickly. We've done some very good work with Pons Racing and it was a very good day."

Portugal's Felix da Costa, the Formula Renault NEC Champion of this year, came within 47 thousandths of a second of the fastest man as British Formula 3 Champion Daniel Ricciardo also made a trip to the circuit. "I already knew the car but this is my first experience of the track," the Australian explained. "I'm going to be driving all week with Carlin Motorsport; today I wanted to get as much driving under my belt as possible, to get my bearings, and we're going to work on the different setups tomorrow."

Having led much of the afternoon session before being demoted by other drivers was Greg Mansell, son of 1992 F1 World Champion Nigel; driving for Fortec, the Englishman dropped behind Felix da Costa's fastest afternoon time and was followed on the timesheets by Ricciardo, Dean Smith and Nathanaël Berthon.
