Oliver Turvey has scored his first victory in the World Series by Renault. The Briton claimed his first victory in the streets of Monaco on Sunday morning. Turvey ended right ahead of Adrian Zaugg and James Walker.

On a glorious sunny morning in the Principality of Monaco, Oliver Turvey got off to the perfect start and led into Sainte Dévote. Just behind him, Adrian Zaugg snatched second place away from James Walker from the start. In the main field, Mihai Marinescu (Interwetten.com Racing) and Daniil Move (P1 Motorsport) crashed together, forcing the safety car out.

Behind the safety car, the race order was Oliver Turvey, Adrian Zaugg, James Walker, Marcos Martinez, Miguel Molina (Ultimate Motorsport), Bertrand Baguette (International Draco Racing), Pasquale DiSabatino (RC Motorsport), Jaime Alguersuari (Carlin Motorsport), Chris Van der Drift (Epsilon Euskadi) and Adrian Valles (Epsilon Euskadi).

Turvey held on to his lead at the restart and the pattern of the race gradually took shape. Oliver Turvey, Adrian Zaugg and James Walker pulled away from the field. In fourth, Marcos Martinez led a chasing group consisting of Miguel Molina, Bertrand Baguette, Pasquale DiSabatino and Jaime Alguersuari.

Marcos Martinez, leader in the overall standings, was forced to retire in the 8th lap, due to a brake fluid leak, leaving the coast clear for Molina, Baguette, DiSabationo and Alguersuari, who upped the pace to catch up with the three leaders. A further incident saw Italian driver Italien Pasquale DiSabatino stop with an electrical fault. Jaime Alguersuari took over his 6th position.

Up front, Oliver Turvey managed his lead perfectly. The British driver set the gap with Adrian Zaugg at one second, while James Walker and Miguel Molina fell back slightly. In fifth place, Bertrand Baguette had to fight off a comeback from Jaime Alguersuari. The Spaniard had Chris Van der Drift, Adrian Valles and Charles Pic hot on his heels.

There were no further changes before the chequered flag. So Oliver Turvey claimed his first win in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series on the prestigious Monaco circuit. The Carlin Motorsport driver was joined on the podium by Adrian Zaugg and James Walker. For Walker, this means useful points in the bag for his championship campaign ambitions. He moves up to third in the overall Formula Renault 3.5 Series standings, five points behind Bertrand Baguette and nine points behind Marcos Martinez.
