This weekend the World Series by Renault season will get under way at the famous track in Monza. After hundreds of miles of testing former F1 test driver Giedo van der Garde is excited about the start of the new season with his new team P1 Motorsport. The Dutchman is fully ready to start the season and fight for the championship title this season. In Monza Giedo will aim for a top three finish in both races.

"I am really looking forward to the start of the season," Van der Garde said. "It's been way too long since the last race so I can't wait to get to work in Monza. Obviously it is a bit difficult to guess what our position will be compared to the rest of the field but during the test sessions this winter our pace was very good and we should be able to race for a top three position. A victory in Monza would be great, but our most important goal will be to score as many points as possible for a solid start of the season.
"We've been working hard this winter and learned a lot about the new car. I did have to get used to the new car a bit and working with the new team but it all went very well. The team has a couple of excellent engineers working day and night to get the maximum out of the car. I am very satisfied so far with the work that has been done and I can't wait to start the new season!"
